Blackberry has moved from their rather humble beginnings as a two way pager developed by Research in Motion in 1999, to become one of the most sought after range of mobile devices in the world today. The range has shaken off its reputation of being only for people involved in business to make huge inroads into the rest of the mobile phone market and has, over the last few years, released some great, easy to use and fun models that have had a real impact on the lives of those who owned them. Here is a little recap of some of the more important releases in the Blackberry range that define the phone’s history as one of the giants of mobile phone manufacturers.
Blackberry 5810
This was the very first smart phone released by RIM and although the Java run OS and the monochromatic display look dated now, it really was not the case then. One of the first mobile phones to have web browsing, e mail, internet faxing and several other features on one device, the 5810 was a real turning point in the fortunes of RIM and the Blackberry range.
Blackberry 7920
The 72 series was the first family of Blackberry to use a colour display and the 7920 was one of the first to utilize LED technology to produce this colour. This is not the only revolutionary thing about this model though as it was the first Blackberry to use Bluetooth, forever changing the way we use our Blackberry phones.

Blackberry Curve
Still going strong now, the Curve is Blackberry’s version of an entry level smart phone and has become extremely popular with those of us who do not want a complex device. This is not to say that they are not great phones though with the latest version, the 9300, including 3G service a tethered modem and of course the world famous Blackberry QWERTY keyboard.
