How to Connect a Wireless G Broadband Router
« on: October 02, 2012, 03:55:54 PM »
A basic Wireless G router

A Wireless G broadband router is a type of wireless router manufactured by several electronics companies. Wireless routers take the broadband signal provided by cable or DSL modems and transmit it in a wireless signal that can be used by wireless cards in properly equipped computers. While there are differences between each router, they still set up and connect in the same way.
Step 1

Unplug your broadband modem. You will need to disconnect both your modem and your router in order to ensure the router configures itself correctly.
Step 2

Plug one end of the included Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the router, then connect the other end to your computer's Ethernet card.
Step 3

Plug in the router's power supply, then turn on your computer and launch your preferred Web browser.
Step 4

Type in the router's IP address found in your router's documentation.
Step 5

Select the "Basic Setup" or "Quick Start" -- or any similar option -- option in the router setup page and follow the instructions that appear in your web browser.
Step 6

Unplug the Ethernet cable from your computer and plug it into the "out" jack on your broadband modem. Wait for the router to detect the Internet signal. Once the lights finish flashing, you will be able to connect to your router with a wireless card.
